Registered Midwife - Whakatane Hospital
The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is currently seeking two permanent part-time Registered Midwives. The positions are 64 hours per fortnight and based in the Whakatàne Maternity Unit / Ko Matariki.
Ko Matariki is a secondary care unit with approximately 650 births per year and a three cot level 2 Special Care Baby Unit.
The community we provide care to is a rural and semi-rural area with 60% Màori population. You will have the opportunity to work across the scope, providing care to antenatal and postnatal clients and those in the birthing suite.
The maternity team is a close and supportive team who aim to provide excellent clinical care and a cheerful and nurturing environment for mothers and their babies.
Midwives and nurses are encouraged to develop areas of interest, share knowledge, and identify quality improvement opportunities.
The team are very much part of the local community and enjoy the rewarding work and an excellent work / life balance.
Whakatàne is the Sunshine Capital of New Zealand, with 11km of unspoilt beach, stunning native bush, lots of community activities and many cafes and shops.
There are also good schools and excellent sports and recreational clubs and facilities.
