Weare looking for an Emergency Management Advisor who is passionate aboutsupporting the Canterbury DHB and West Coast DHB to develop and manageemergency plans, as well as support the preparation of business continuityplans.

Our team is responsible for building the capability of the Canterbury healthsector to manage emergency responses in a consistent and confident way.

Onefocus of our work programme is ensuring we have integrated plans to respond tospecific events including pandemic, mass casualty and natural disaster,across all aspects of healthcare.

Thisrole will focus on ensuring our health system is ready to provide apredictable, integrated and sustainable response to emergencies.

Specifictasks include :

  • Develop and maintain health sector emergency plans
  • Working with services and departments across the health system to develop and test response plans
  • Support and encourage equity across all plans and responses
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of these plans
  • Facilitating staff learning in the successful management of emergencies
  • Supporting response teams during activation
  • Work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders as well as regional and national emergency management agencies
  • Supporting divisions and service areas to complete their business continuity plans.

    We are looking for an experienced emergencymanagement advisor able to confidently develop emergency and businesscontinuity plans as well as effectively deliver group training sessions.

    Skills required in this role :

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills for engaging and consulting with stakeholders
  • Degree in Business or Emergency Management
  • Experience working in a complex, large-scale environment
  • Experience in group facilitation, training and presenting
  • Knowledge and understanding of the relevant NZ Legislation for emergencies and disasters
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS)
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Health Operational Policy Framework
  • Understanding of the key principles of effective risk management
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies
