We are looking for the right person to join our vibrant, diverse, committed, and passionate information security team to help Grow and Protect New Zealand.
If you are driven, adaptable collaborative and committed, then this is the role for you. Your success will be your ability to engage across all areas of the Ministry, wider government, and the primary sector community.
You will be adept in understanding complex technical systems and be able to demonstrate security leadership. You will lead the Ministries certification and accreditation processes and provide timely pragmatic advice to decision makers ensuring the organisation is protected against modern cyber threats.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The Information Technology Security Manager (ITSM) is responsible for providing functional information technology (IT) security leadership within MPI.
As MPI's principal advisor for IT security, a core aspect of the role is providing expert advice and assurance to ensure a safe and secure IT environment.

This is a Wellington based, permanent full-time role with an indicative salary of 120-140k per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Our ideal candidate will have a proven information security and technical background as well as experience in system assurance practices.
You will need to be open, agile, proactive, and engaging.
We need you to have a can-do attitude, be a team player, strong on systems and processes, pragmatic, and able to deal with ambiguity.
You will also be customer centric with great communication skills and enjoy working as part of a fun and dynamic team. It would be beneficial if you hold a recognised Information Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA, but this is not essential.
