About the role

We are looking for a technically focused and mechanically minded individual to join our Clinical Engineering team as a Technician, on a full-time permanent basis.

Clinical Engineering has responsibility for technology management of clinical equipment across the full range of clinical specialities.

The primary role of the Clinical Engineering team is to maintain and repair clinical equipment (through regular maintenance cycles).

This service is essential to the continued operations of the clinical services and delivering best possible care to the patient.

This team has a far reaching responsibility to provide services to all Canterbury District Health Board, (CDHB) clinical departments including the Chatham Islands along with providing services to some private hospitals and the anaesthetics pool.

There is a strong operational relationship with the West Coast District Health Board's (WCDHB) clinical engineering group and clinical staff.

Skills and experience

To be suitable for this position you will have

  • experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • a current Registration as an Electrical Service Technician
  • ideally a tertiary qualification in a technical discipline
  • understanding of the role of software in medical technologies.
  • You will be a self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills. Because you will be responsible for a variety of activities, working across several departments, you will need to be well organised with proven ability to prioritise.
