About the role
The Information Technology Security Manager (ITSM) is responsible for providing functional information technology (IT) security leadership within MPI.
As MPI's principal advisor for IT security, a core aspect of the role is providing expert advice and assurance to ensure a safe and secure IT environment.
The key responsibilities in this role are to :
Ensure a safe and secure IT environment for MPI through the provision of expert advice and regular assurance monitoring and reporting with the results used to drive improvement.
Contribute to MPI's vision by collaborating with the CISO on the development of the strategic direction and structure for delivery of the information security work programme.
Ensure that the delivery of contracted security and related services provision is to agreed outcomes, is fit for purpose, and aligns with MPI's vision and protective security outcomes through effective leadership and management.
Ensure that information security and secure by design' by is incorporated into system architectures, evaluation, selection, installation, configuration, and operation (including system guidelines, assurance processes, and standard operating procedures).
Ensure that information security incidents are effectively managed by overseeing and contributing to MPI's information security incident management processes.
This is a Wellington based, permanent full-time role with an indicative salary of 120-140k per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Our ideal candidate will have a proven information security and technical background as well as experience in system assurance practices.
You will need to be open, agile, proactive, and engaging.
We need you to have a can-do attitude, be a team player, strong on systems and processes, pragmatic, and able to deal with ambiguity.
You will also be customer centric with great communication skills and enjoy working as part of a fun and dynamic team. It would be beneficial if you hold a recognised Information Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA, but this is not essential.
You will need the following skills and experience to be successful :
A minimum of 5 years in a seniorrole within information and technology security
Demonstrated experience in strategic and intellectual leadership for information & technology security
Experience in developing and implementing policies, processes, project and risk management, solutions delivery, and assurance services within large and complex organisations
Demonstrated ability to act as a primary coach and mentor for other staff
Communicate effectively and build collaborative working relationships with people at all levels.
