About the role : To deliver innovative and effective multimodal investigations, operational planning, and design of operational projects and programmes of work aimed at improving safety, optimising efficiency, promoting sustainable travel, and improving the effectiveness of the transport network.
To supervise the team's Transportation Engineers in delivering innovating planning, design and effective delivery of projects aimed at enhancing the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of the transport system.
To provide specialist transportation engineering subject matter expertise and advice to customers (internal and external).
To embody the safe system approach in all work, based upon the philosophy of 'Vision Zero'.Key Responsibilities : Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, providing technical engineering advice, applying innovative technology, operational planning, investigating, reviewing and implementing solutions to ensure the safety and effective operation of a first-class transport network.
Technical activities may be related to, or include : Road safety engineering.Speed limit reviews and studies.Local area traffic management (LATM).
Vulnerable road user (pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist) deficiency assessment and design.Route and intersection investigations.
Area wide or corridor studies.Crash analysis and reduction studies, attending fatal and serious crash sites.Road Safety Audit reviews and responses.
Key Requirements : Relevant tertiary qualification - Bachelor's Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Engineering.5-7 years' experience in general traffic engineering, preferred experience in analysis and design of transport facilities.
Experience in use of traffic and road safety simulation tools preferred.Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePointFull and current NZ drivers licence with no major endorsements (must be able to drive a manual vehicle).
