About this role

You will be part of a unique team of passionate individuals working directly with the community. Your role will be to advocate for and facilitate meaningful opportunities for Arts & Culture through your in-depth understanding of the broader Arts sector and your significant experience building community-based relationships.

Working alongside community stakeholders, artists and performers, Arts and Culture sector professionals and other Hutt City Council teams, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Arts are supported to thrive.

You'll be instrumental in connecting the community and the Council working towards collaborative, coordinated and innovative programmes of work.

You will be responsible for :

  • Embedding Community-Led development - enabling our communities to thrive
  • Optimizing our (Community, Council and Arts & Culture sector) collective impact across neighbourhoods and the wider city
  • Harnessing local insights, identifying local strengths, and understanding local needs and aspirations
  • Making connections and facilitating the delivery of activity to strengthen arts and culture.
  • About you

  • Interested in community development and can demonstrate the value of art and creative practices in the community
  • Connected across the Arts and Culture sector nationally and regionally with particular experience and knowledge of Lower Hutt networks an advantage
  • Able to communicate clearly and efficiently with a wide range of audiences
  • Entrepreneurial in your approach and focused on identifying opportunities with the practical skills to realise them
  • Able to establish and utilise extensive personal networks and high-value partnerships with Council, colleagues, community and business leaders
