Watercare is offering a limited number of fixed-term internships so that students can get a taste of Auckland's exciting water and wastewater industry.
If you can commit to working full-time hours from November until the end of February*, then Watercare could be the place for you!
What we're looking for :
The recruitment and development of interns is an important part of Watercare's future and we have many former interns now as permanent employees.
The summer internship programme brings vital new energy, ideas and opportunities for growth to the wider Watercare team and our clients.
This year we are looking for Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering students to join our infrastructure team working mainly on Watercare's construction, maintenance and upgrade projects.
You will work alongside subject matter experts including project managers and engineers in the construction of new water and wastewater assets and / or the upgrading of existing ones.
To be eligible to apply you must be at least in your 2nd or 3rd year of study. Due to the popularity of the internship programme we will not be able to consider 1st year students.
We aren't just looking to fill a vacancy. The people we want have the skills, drive and passion to help us take our business forward.
While our head office, Watercare House, is centrally located in Newmarket, a number of these roles are based at locations within the wider Auckland region.
Public transport options to some of these sites are limited (such as Huia Water Treatment plant in Titirangi, the Wastewater Treatment plants in both Mangere and Rosedale, the Water Treatment plant in Tuakau), so in order to be successful in your application for one of the plant based roles you will need your own transport.
Students based at our head office will have the opportunity to visit other sites and you may also need your own transport for these visits.
What Watercare can offer you :
We provide a rich learning environment, embracing a range of learning opportunities and styles both on and off the job. It's not only about attracting the best -
we seek to develop our people into the best they can be.
The Watercare summer student internship programme supports on-going personal, professional and technical learning and includes structured workplace learning, mentoring and networking to accelerate skill development.
You can expect a variety of experiences and a good team environment through a programme endorsed by relevant professional bodies.
Watercare's Summer Student Programme includes :
All applications should be submitted online through our company's online careers website, attaching a Cover Letter and a CV that includes your academic transcript.
While we value academic achievement, we will also be assessing your community engagement, any work experience, sporting or leisure activities.
Once the application period closes, we will shortlist the candidates and, depending on the number of applicants, this can take some time.
All interviews will be held at the Watercare head office in Newmarket.
