Maintenance Fitter

Our client is one of the leading suppliers of compressed and bulk gases, chemicals and equipment around the globe with the mission of making our world more productive every day.

They develop safe, sustainable and innovative solutions for customers in many speciality sectors, heavy industry and medical environments

On behalf of our client we are currently looking for a Maintenance Fitter.

Principal Responsibilities :

  • Perform mechanical maintenance activities, including breakdown, preventative, reactive, planned and unscheduled work
  • Assist in developing work plans to effectively complete assigned jobs including tools, equipment and spare parts
  • Undertake minor project work to improve plant performance and safety
  • Respond to after-hours service calls as required
  • Promote and assist in the development of all Business Unit personnel in safety, technical and procedural issues
  • Identify, initiate and implement plant improvement opportunities to meet with production requirements
  • Actively promote safety awareness within the group ensuring that all special requirements ans standards are met
  • Comply with all safety procedures and standards.
  • Required Skills :

  • Safety focus and ownership
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Logical thinker with ability to diagnose plant failures
  • Ability to work unsupervised and cooperatively with production staff.
  • Qualifications / Experience :

  • Recognised mechanical / pipe fitter trade qualification
  • 5+ years experience in a related manufacturing maintenance environment
  • The following unit standards would be a bonus :
  • Height Safety
  • Mobile Elevated work platform
  • Confined space and gas detection
  • Permit Issue
