Permanent Full-Time role based in Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand

Your role is responsible for providing the Companies Animal Health automation team with specialised and highly skilled capabilities for system / application design, development, and business system integration.

You are accountable for the delivery and transformation of design requirements into robust code and performant solutions.

This will also include providing estimates, designing, building, testing, deploying and supporting applications / products using the appropriate computer languages and development tools.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, however not limited to :

Work alongside the business to develop new systems / products / features and maintain, enhance and support of existing systems and products.

Provide software development estimates for concepts and initiatives, including both high level and detailed estimates that accurately reflect the size and resources required, taking into consideration the chosen methodology.

Adhere to processes and documentation requirements specified by the Technical Lead Software.

Establish and maintain application specifications through discussion with peers and business stakeholders, breaking down program specifications into simple elements and translating logic into instructions.

Ensure system / product code is designed, developed and maintained to run efficiently in the wider integrated environment.

Analyse effectiveness and performance of systems and act to correct deficiencies in consultation with peers.

Create, document and implement the required level of testing (unit, behavioural and other appropriate tests).

Deploy applications using appropriate source code management and release management processes.

Complete assigned work to required quality and process standards, agreed development patterns and architectural principles.

Contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of the software development life cycle, associated artefacts and software development principles and practices.

What You Must Have

Prior experience as an application developer in a large and complex environment

Degree qualified - preferably in an information technology or business discipline

Knowledge and experience of :

NET, Angular, Javascript / Typescript

API development

Cloud Technologies Azure

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Microservices

Queues / Messaging

Integration technologies

System / database architecture and design

Coding software according to published standards and design guidelines

Test Driven Development

Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure for specific periods and maintain performance and meet tight deadlines.

Good interpersonal and communications skills, oral and written, ability to communicate with users as well as technical staff

Strong problem-solving skills

Dairy industry experience and knowledge of dairy farming automation systems / products would be beneficial, not essential
