Chapter Lead (Head of Insurance Products)

This exciting role leads our insurance product team, which is an important strategic area of focus. The Insurance product squads are accountable for ensuring that Westpac NZ has the most competitive life & income, house & contents and car & vehicle insurance options for our customers.
About you :
As a Chapter Lead (or Head of Insurance Products), you will be responsible for taking a critical leadership role within this growing chapter and the wider tribe.
Day to day you’ll be responsible for leading a team across their development within Product Management and ensuring best practice across this discipline.
You’ll also support the formulation and development of strategies, that enable Westpac to identify opportunities to remove pain points, strive for continual improvement and make step change in the delivery of product to improve the product experience for our staff and customers.
Additionally, you’ll have significant responsibilities for building effective relationships with our strategic partners IAG and Fidelity Life.
This role will suit someone who has a demonstratable passion for financial services and supporting people to grow and develop their craft.
To do this you will have a deep understanding of the Insurance market, our customers, and our competitors. You will be customer outcome focused, a self-starter and motivated to deliver change and value.
You’ll understanding the numbers, and the customer behaviours that underpin them and bring a wealth of knowledge of banking and how products are delivered to market.
You’ll be strong champion for risk and embedding foundational best practice end-to-end product management. You will also bring experience in managing complex relationships and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

You’ll bring :
3+ people management skills in a previous role.
6+ years’ previous experience in a product management role.
Experience working in the professional services industry (Insurance and / or underwriting, Banking would be advantageous).
Specific insurance (Life or General) product knowledge is required for this role.
Proven innovation management skills, with the ability to bring creative ideas of others to life.
Product delivery experience is essential.
Proven experience & ability to lead and deliver strategy and business outcomes in a large and complex organisation.
A growth mindset with the ability to drive change through a large organisation.
Strong stakeholder management skills to guide individuals to a fast and effective outcomes.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
