About the Role

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is seeking a digital forensics investigator attached to the Digital Forensic Unit (DFU) within the Compliance Support Unit, based in Petone.

The DFU is responsible for supporting all digital forensics activities within the Compliance directorate. You will be part of a team that provides digital evidence enabling MPI to prosecute serious offending against New Zealand's primary industries.

You must be able to demonstrate a high level of technical expertise and knowledge in the field of digital forensics. Full training will be provided but a thorough understanding of computer systems and mobile technology is needed.

Short-listed candidates will be required to complete a practical digital forensics assessment.

Mōu - About You

The ideal candidate will have :

A Computer Science or Information Technology related degree

Experience working with mobile device operating systems

Experience repairing or building computer hardware

An understanding of social media and email storage technologies

High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, in both spoken and written form, with a wide range of people, e.

g. MPI, industry and the general public

Ability to work and travel at short notice which may also involve working overtime
