Te Taumutu R nanga is one of the 18 papatipu r nanga that make up Te R nanga o Ng i Tahu TRONT Our takiw centres on Taumutu and shores of Te Waihora and has common interests with Wairewa r nanga Ng i T huriri and Arowhenua Our people over 24 000 registered members descend from our tipuna Te Ruahikihiki and his son Moki II who settled at Taumutu in the seventeenth century Our governing structure is an Incorporated Society led by an Executive team who employ the Kaihaut General Manager to manage the r nanga and marae We have very clear strategic priorities that focus on the tino rangatiratanga of our language and culture protection of our environment the wellbeing and education of our people marae development and economic prosperity We seek a motivated person with a lot of initiative to carry out our Hauora Wellbeing portfolio committee work plan education justice and health Key responsibilities include Build relationships with education institutions schools preschools university in our takiw Assist each institution to understand and embed our Ruahikihikitanga Taumutu cultural identity values norms and traditions in each institution and throughout the curriculum Design education resources to be used within institutions and at our marae Plan activities for various ages and host groups at our marae in Taumutu Support and enable our leadership team and external representatives to make informed responsible decisions Canvas funding opportunities and complete all applications as needed Plan and manage various projects including budget and reporting obligations Provide all administration support to the Hauora portfolio committee including the preparation of the annual plan annual report agenda briefing papers taking minutes and all written communications with our people in various formats and forums Collaborate with TRONT Papatipu R nanga local and regional government government agencies stakeholders and nongovernment organisations to promote organisational and portfolio strategic objectives and seek collective innovative solutions The successful applicant will be joining a small team of 8 supportive staff They will have A relevant tertiary qualification preferably teaching qualifications Preferably at least three years teaching experience A proven ability to work well in a small team A good general knowledge of and respect for M ori cultural values and customs tikanga and society and issues Competence in or a willingness to become competent in Te Reo M ori Excellent verbal and written skills Interpersonal relationship building and collaboration skills Drive determination and passion The work location will be divided between our office in Upper Riccarton Ngati Moki marae in Taumutu and in the community A lease vehicle for work travel will be provided If you would like further information please feel free to seek a position description from our Kaihaut Megen McKay Application must include your curriculum vitae and a covering letter by 5pm Monday 7 October Megen McKay Megen mckay ngaitahu iwi nz 027 331 5131
