Antarctica New Zealand?s Operations Team provide logistical support for external scientists to achieve their research outcomes.

With a greater number of deep field and other complex project requests than ever before, the organisation must work closely with stakeholders to forecast and plan for future requirements.

The role

The role of the Event Project Planner is to conduct high level assessments, develop clear planning timelines, and to identify risks and opportunities in support of field operations. This includes :

  • Working with key external stakeholders to oversee the development of Event Project Plans, project costings and schedule, with a particular focus on the Strategic Science Investment Fund.
  • Contributing to the Event Planning process and support the development of the annual Antarctic Programme Plan and budget.
  • Being available for up to three months over the Summer season, to act as a member of the Scott Base Leadership Team, in the Programme Support Supervisor role.
  • Leading the Project Management Office process for the Operations Team and support the development of operations business planning in line with our 5 year plan.

    This is a full time permanent role based in our Christchurch office.

    What will you bring?

  • Project Management Experience in large multi-year events.
  • Proven field and logistics planning experience in Antarctica and / or remote locations.
  • Commitment to ensuring Health, Safety, Environment risks are considered as part of the planning process.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications.
  • An interpersonal style that will see you partner effectively with others.
  • Degree or Diploma qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Staff management and team leadership experience.
