    We are looking for applicants for the position of Senior Ranger, Community; Kaitiaki Matua, Āo Hāpori based in the Kauri Coast.

    The focus of the role is providing strategic advice, planning, monitoring, and reporting on the District's Community team's work.

    This is a strategic role and requires a high degree of planning and strategic thinking to be successful.

    This is a 12-month fixed term position, with the option of flexible working, we can offer full time or 4 days per week (0.

    8 or 0.7 FTE). We can also offer flexibility with days working from home and possible flexible hours around the school run for example.

    This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a strong, hardworking team and support growing conservation in the Northern North Island District alongside our Treaty partners and communities.

    The position will be focussed on :

  • Providing strategic advice to the Operations Manager on Community work priorities
  • Coordinating and planning for Community rangers
  • Monitoring and reporting on financial performance and resource allocation
  • Supporting and advising the Operations Manager, community team and wider district team on national, regional, and local priorities
  • Supporting aspirations of iwi
  • Engaging effectively and confidently in te ao maori environment
  • Managing relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; internal business groups, management, other public sector bodies, private sector organisations and local community groups.

    The ideal applicant will :

  • Be comfortable pulling reports and utilising the data to make informed decisions, financial and non-financial
  • Have previous experience delegating and planning workloads for a wider team
  • Understand and have experience in how to prioritise critical tasks and issues
  • Demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement and have managed complex relationships externally and internally
  • Be able to identify issues, opportunities, and innovative solutions
  • Be adept at learning and using a wide range of systems and processes
  • Demonstrate ability in building positive working relationships across a broad range of public and private sector businesses and groups
  • Possess experience in working with whānau, hapū and iwi, with an understanding of te ao Māori
  • Have a good understanding of te reo me onā tikanga
  • Hold a current full New Zealand Driver License
