He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty are currently seeking Midwives to join their casual pool, working as when required’ to cover days with high demand at Whakatāne Hospital.

The positions are based in the Whakatāne Maternity Unit / Kō Matariki is a secondary care unit with approx.. 650 births PA and a 3-cot Level 2 Special Care baby Unit.

The community we provide care to is a rural and semi-rural area with 60 percent Māori population. You will have the opportunity to work with mothers and their babies and whānau.

The maternity team is a close and supportive team who aim to provide excellent clinical care and cheerful nurturing environment for mothers and their babies.

Midwives and nurses are encouraged to develop areas of interest, share knowledge, and identify quality improvement opportunities.

The team are very much part of the local community and enjoy the rewarding work an excellent work / life balance.
