The Waimakariri District Council is seeking a Water and Wastewater Operator to work at our Water Unit based in Rangiora, North Canterbury.
As a Water and Wastewater Operator, your role involves working on the network of water assets, delivering maintenance of fresh and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
You will be responsible for undertaking operational checks, maintenance activities, data collection, water sampling and testing, and also contributing to the improvement and upgrade works on the fresh and wastewater treatment equipment.
You will have a professional and positive attitude, a desire to learn and develop your knowledge in a technologically dynamic industry.
Experience in water infrastructure, engineering, construction, and maintenance is desired as is a pleasant disposition when interacting with members of the public.
There will be a need for call-outs on a rostered basis and occasional weekend work.
In addition to your safe working practices, you will need the following :
You will be joining and working alongside a passionate team, providing exceptional service in a time-critical industry. From time to time, you will be working unsupervised.
This role requires an excellent level of customer service as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders from engineers, asset managers, sub-contractors, service providers as well as the general public.
You will be a great communicator and have the ability to get along and engage with people at all levels both inside and outside of our organisation.
