  • Full time permanent position in the Hamilton, Waikato, Taranaki region with the ability to be based in one of our offices in Hamilton, Taranaki, Whitianga or Thames.
  • He angitūtanga : About the RoleAs our next Works Officer, you will be part of a small team who provides project management advice and support to manage our outdoor recreational assets.

    This ranges from visitor experience improvement work, high priority iwi projects, safety related work and project asset replacement.

    Key role responsibilities include :

  • Providing project management services including engaging and managing consultants, obtaining consents, and tendering and managing construction contracts for the upgrade, replacement, or removal of the Department's outdoor recreational assets.
  • Providing project management and construction contract advice and support to the Department's field staff.
  • Provide regular progress updates on projects to managers and local Department of Conservation staff.
  • Conducting site inspections of huts, tracks, and structures within the region; and
  • Complying with and promoting the Department's Health and Safety policy and guidelines. You will also be required to liaise with stakeholders and Iwi, manage logistics and liaise with local Department of Conservation staff.

    This role will build on your previous project management experience ideally from a recreation, construction, or trade industry.

    You will have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability manage your workload, often with competing deadlines and priorities and still produce high quality work.

    Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
