POSITION PURPOSEThe Education Counsellor is responsible for providing information, advice, support and processing of applications for international students seeking placement in New Zealand education institutions.
The Education Counsellor is also responsible for promoting IELTS tests and other IDP products and services to walk in and other students.
RESPONSIBILITIESProactively engage with international students in New Zealand, their families and their friends to promote IDP services and support productsProvide them with information and advice on study opportunities and visa applications in New ZealandSubmit applications to Institutions, obtain offers and facilitate enrolmentsFollow up potential students and maximise conversion of students submitting applications and finalising enrolment through IDPPromote and sell IDP Onshore Student Essentials services where applicable.
Support IDP network students and the onshore delivery of IDP Student Essentials they purchasedAssist students with on-arrival issues and provide them with on-
shore IDP ServicesPromote IDP IELTS Tests and assist test bookings in the officeData entry of student applicationsManage and store student files through the established filing systemFollow standard CRM sales process to record and update all student interactions and applications, follow through on students’ enquiries and applicationsContinually enhance student visa and product knowledge base through client training, workshops, briefing sessions, visits and peer discussions and IELTS Customer Service TrainingKeep informed of market and NZ regulation changes that may have an impact on the businessStay update-
to-date with IDP Student Essentials offerings and process involvedCompletion of relevant Education Agents training course in New ZealandAttend to student face-
to-face, phone and email enquiries in a timely and professional mannerFollow through on student enquiries, requests or complaints and provide information and assistance as required.
Organise student excursions and cultural eventsManage in-house interview sessions where students can meet institutions to submit on the spot applicationsManaging reception occasionallyAssist the preparation and running of major promotional events such as Interview Sessions, Expos and IELTS Masterclass.
Assist the promotion and student bookings of excursions and cultural eventsShare knowledge and market information with team members who may find it usefulMaintain and update all generic IDP and institutional information materialsProvide input on marketing activities to promote IDP brand and servicesAssist in identification of opportunities and threats in the marketManage other team members’ work and student cases during their absenceWork with marketing staff and institution representatives in strategies for promoting institutionBuild good working relationships with IDP network counsellors and marketing and admissions staff from institutionsWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORCompleted Bachelor Degree or an equivalent amount of experience / educationWorking experience in New Zealand, or in the International Education IndustryProficiency in English and any other languageDemonstrated customer service orientationHighly sales drivenDemonstrated ability to communicate effectivelyDemonstrated ability to work in a teamExcellent time management and organisational skillsHigh level of problem solving and negotiation skillsUnderstand needs and issues of on-
