About the role :

Our Water Network Planning team helps Councils understand their asset and optimise long term investment. We are known for finding pragmatic solutions and for our ability to look at systems as a whole to propose smart long-term strategies.

We are involved in a wide range of projects, from assessing firefighting compliance in rural areas through to improving water quality in cities, visualising network constraints and preparing long term master plans.

About the role :

We are looking for a new member in our Water Network Planning Team, focusing on water supply. We need someone who can contribute to the delivery of water network planning projects as well as work with code and data.

You will be trained and supported in both aspects.

The role centres on water supply network modelling, master planning and operational optimisation. Under the supervision and training of our senior specialists, you will :

  • tProcess and analyse spatial data, flow time series and customer information.
  • tDevelop hydraulic models.
  • tCarry out network analysis tasks.
  • tContribute to reports and presentations.
  • We use scripted processes for the more complex data manipulation tasks and visualisations. Under the supervision and training of our senior specialists and in collaboration with our analytics and spatial data team, you will :

  • tAdapt and update existing tools and processes.
  • tDevelop and document new tools and processes.
  • tUndertake data import, manipulation, analysis and visualisations.
  • This is a chance to be part of a dynamic and positive-minded team with strong connections between disciplines (drainage planning, design and delivery of capital projects, environmental science, transport) and between regions (across New Zealand, Australia and globally

    What you need to bring :

    Our preferred candidate for this role will have at least two years’ experience in the water industry.

    Experience in programming is not required but a keen interest to learn is essential.

    Your own self-management skills will be as important as your technical ones. You will need to be able to prioritize workloads whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with our clients' and colleague's both locally and across the broader Stantec team.
