Auckland City, AucklandTemporary, ContractReporting to the Acting Head of Operational Risk, the Risk Business Partner will provide expert advice to facilitate a strong, embedded risk culture that optimises risk / reward decision making and supports the delivery of the businesses strategic objectives.
The Operational Risk team works to facilitate the resolution of complex Risk issues impacting Westpac. The team operates as a conduit between Westpac’s Risk division and the front line Business, with the Risk Business Partners operating as trusted advisers to both parties to support the maturity of risk culture at Westpac.
In this role you will : Foster strong relationships with senior managers in order to act as a trusted adviser and build the business’ trust and confidence in the wider Risk functionProvide strategic advice on how to identify, monitor, measure and manage risksProvide advice on risks inherent in material changes e.
g. key business decisions, projects, process changes, implementation of new infrastructure, product changes or transformation projectsProvide pragmatic, outcome-
focussed risk advice and insights that influence decisions, optimise risk / reward balance and assist Westpac to achieve its business objectives, within risk appetite and legal parametersPartner with the wider Risk division to raise awareness and education to the business units on risk related issuesCoach and support risk resources in how to apply risk management frameworksAct as a key contact for all 2nd line Risk related activity and assist with the timely resolution of issues or non-
complianceDevelop and implement strategies for improving risk and compliance management / practicesProvide advice on risk maturity and support the embedment of the 3 lines of defence model.
What you’ll need to succeed : Significant (7+ years) experience in a Risk role or relevant business disciplineDemonstrated ability to communicate with, consult and advise senior management, influence the business to ensure risk management practices are embeddedDemonstrated ability to engage in complex and challenging conversations and the ability to provide coaching for capability upliftProven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships across the businessTertiary qualification in Business, Management, Law or similarRisk based professional qualification preferredWhat’s great about working for Westpac?
