Our Eye department at Dunedin hospital is a busy service, and we require another Health Care Assistant to join our team.

You will work alongside 3 Health care assistants who are committed to making a positive impact on the patient experience.

That someone could be you! Ideally, you will have some form of ophthalmology experience, but it is not a deal breaker if you do not, as full orientation will be given to the successful applicant.

About the Role

Our Ophthalmology Outpatients Department offers a highly varied workload and the opportunity to work alongside multi-disciplinary teams.

In this busy role you’ll assist with the care of Ophthalmology patients of all age groups with a variety of tasks to ensure the eye clinics run smoothly by assisting patients around the department, including :

This position is part-time week generally with set hours, however, there may be opportunities to increase hours here and there to cover periods of leave within the wider team.

The department will also require some flexibility from you to work different hours some weeks to cover leave or when the department is exceptionally busy.

Occasional weekend work may be required at times.

About You

Our ideal candidate will already have experience in an Ophthalmology focussed area and will be able to undertake vision testing.

There is also potential to work towards an extended scope of practice that will include the administration of eye drops.

Therefore, it is essential that you have a willingness to expand your skill set in this particular discipline, ensuring your role is interesting, unique and diverse.

It is also important that you have great communication skills and a calm and patient nature.
