    Te tūranga The role

    As a Statistical Analyst in the Statistics team, you'll provide essential information used by a range of customers to better understand banking and financial markets in New Zealand.

    Your primary focus is to deliver key statistics and insights as you produce, analyse and disseminate high quality data and statistics.

    You'll use your statistical skills to improve our processes and contribute to our modernisation initiatives whilst creating new insights, in new ways, for technical and non-technical audiences.

    In this role, you'll partner with our customers to expand the range of data and insights available about New Zealand's financial system.

    You'll be part of a team expanding our range of banking data, such as lending to households and business; or financial data, such as securities and insurance.

    To be successful in this role you will bring :

  • Strong analytical skills from your qualifications in economics, statistics, or the financial sector and / or experience working in a dynamic professional environment
  • Proven commitment to team goals and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • A curious mind to understand the why' behind the data and ensure we meet the needs of our customers
  • A proactive approach to identify new initiatives and the ability to innovate to unlock the insights within the data
  • Strong relationship building skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word, previous experience using tools such as R or Python would be an advantage
  • We are looking for someone who is interested in further developing their statistical skills and financial knowledge, this could be a recent graduate who is new to the workforce or someone who has been in the working environment for 1-2 years.
