One of New Zealand's most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need a Braille Awareness Champion to join us in our Policy and Advocacy Team.
You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a "life without limits" for New Zealanders who are blind or have low vision.
Purpose of the role : We currently have a vacancy for a Braille Awareness Champion, in Auckland. This is a part-time (22.
5 hours per week), permanent position. The position will advocate to improve access to braille literacy and numeracy, contribute to the Strategic Framework for the Provision of Braille Services and increase awareness and support for braille education and services.
What we are looking for : A current Trans-Tasman Certificate of Proficiency in Unified English Braille.High proficiency as a braille reader and writer, including contracted braille and has a passion of braille.
Proven time management skills, well-organised and able to meet deadlines.Excellent group presentation and communication skills.
Well versed in alternative formats and adaptive technology for people with print disabilities.Ability to manage a range of relationships to achieve success.
Experience in developing and delivering educational programmes.Strong communication and public speaking skills and the ability to relate at all levels.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (report writing, proposals, programme reporting).Good computer skills including Word, Excel & Outlook.
