What you will doAs the Lead Advisor Organisational Development Programmes you'll be responsible for leading the design and delivery of cross-NZDF Organisational Development (OD) initiatives that align to our organisational and people strategy and build the capability and engagement of our people using a people-centred approach.

You'll provide strong intellectual and professional leadership to a range of Organisational Development areas.As a senior member of the OD Directorate, the Lead Advisor is also responsible for contributing and leading contemporary OD thinking and supporting the Director OD Programmes to shape and deliver a broad and integrated OD framework.

What we needAn experienced OD professional, with demonstrable experience at both the strategic and operational level, with experience in the delivery of effective OD initiatives, applying sound change management practices.

You'll bring knowledge of best-practice and contemporary OD methodologies, techniques and contemporary leadership and management trends and issues.

Key skills we're looking for include :

  • Experience in the development, delivery and implementation of initiatives in a complex organisation, using sound change management practices;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills;
  • The proven ability to influence, persuade and negotiate;
  • Success working on large scope, high complexity projects;
  • A thought leader with experience and comfort engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders;
  • Experience designing and delivering training;
  • The ability to coach and mentor others; and
  • Preparedness to travel to camps and bases within New Zealand. Best-practice organisation development, engagement and performance initiatives.
  • Who we areThe Organisational Development Programmes (OD Programmes) unit is part of the Organisational Development (OD) Directorate, which also includes Career and Talent Management, Defence Psychology and Organisational Research.

    OD Programmes is responsible for a range of broad OD outcomes, linked to the strategic direction of the NZDF.Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.

    The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows : Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and / or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years : either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA;
  • and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

    If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
