Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
We have a fixed term full time parental leave opportunity to become part of a team of dedicated professionals who are responsible for the management of Fisheries New Zealand's scientific and research information.
In this role you will deliver data analytics products and develop specialised advanced analytical models supporting the Fisheries Science and Information directorate and in turn, the Fisheries Management directorate and their approach to managing New Zealand's fisheries.
As a member of the Fisheries Data Management team embedded within the Fisheries Science and Information directorate you will join a team that performs a wide range of tasks with regard to the stewardship of data within, and operation, reporting and enhancement of, Fisheries New Zealand's data repositories.
You will collaborate across the Fisheries NZ, Business Technology & Information Systems Information & Insights (BT&IS I&I) and wider Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) analytics and modelling spaces.
You will be also responsible for data mining across large and disparate information siloes, focussing on predictive modelling for Fisheries interests in support of Fisheries NZ decision making.
Within Fisheries New Zealand it is envisaged that the Data Modelling Analyst will help inform and define the tools and platform in conjunction with BTIS I&I and their peers throughout MPI.
