About the teams
Ward 3 Surgical is a 54 bed specialist surgery ward covering Acute and Elective Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Rheumatology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Maxillofacial specialities.
Ward 4A is a 24 bed General Surgery ward, with a co-located six bed High Dependency Unit attached. Ward 4A specializes in upper and lower GI and colorectal Surgery and provides for both elective and acute surgical admissions.
Ward 4C is a 25 bed general surgical ward specialising in vascular, urology, plastics, breast and gynaecology and provides for both elective and acute surgical admissions.

The work on these wards is varied and interesting and you will have many opportunities to develop professionally. You will be provided with a first-rate orientation and an ongoing in-service education programme, along with opportunities for undertaking post graduate education.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with a dynamic team of health care professionals from a variety of disciplines and gain further exposure to develop your repertoire of nursing skills.
The hours of work are rostered and rotating shifts Monday to Sunday.

It is important that our nurses embody the Southern DHB values and we are looking for nurses who can demonstrate the values in their nursing and in previous roles held.
You will need to be registered in accordance with the Health Practitioner Competency Act 2003 as a New Zealand Enrolled Nurse and hold a current practising certificate.
