About this role
Inland Revenue is an essential part of the fabric of New Zealand. We collect most of the revenue the government needs to fund and administer the significant social and economic policy programmes.
We aim to make it simple, open and more certain for people to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements, and we have spent the last few years realigning all aspects of our organisation to enable this to happen.
We have updated technology and introduced agile and multi-disciplinary teams who network together to create outcomes for the government and people.
Our Governance and Ministerial Services (GMS) team plays a crucial role in managing the flow of information and providing timely, expert advice and support to IR and the Minister's office.
GMS manages Inland Revenue's requests for official information, supports executive-level governance and reviews written communication for the Minister to ensure it meets IR's and the Minister's standards and aligns with current messages.
This role provides the opportunity to create strong relationships across Inland Revenue, problem solve and provide robust advice on technical matters, such as the Official Information Act (OIA) and Parliamentary process.
Naturally resilient and agile, you will remain composed in all situations and environments in order to communicate this advice effectively.
You won't be afraid to challenge the status quo and will freely share your ideas on how we can improve our processes.
As a Ministerial Domain Specialist (L2) (Senior Ministerial Advisor), you will have the additional responsibilities of playing a mentoring role within the wider GMS team and act as the first point of contact for urgent queries from the Minister's office.
You will have the ability to conduct research and ensure that required timeframes are met.
We are seeking a motivated individual, who can deliver under pressure and work well as an individual and within a team. You will have a sharp mind, provide high-quality written and oral advice and have the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
