The Department of Public Health University of Otago, Wellington is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to provide statistical modelling and analytical support for the Burden of Disease Epidemiology, Equity and Cost-

Effectiveness Programme (BODE3).

The Role

Based on our Wellington campus, you will assist with running epidemiological and economic simulation models of different public health intervention impacts. You will also :

  • Determine productivity costs and health system costs by disease, through regression analyses on linked health-tax data in the Statistics New Zealand Integrated Data Infrastructure (SNZ IDI).
  • Maintain and extend the BODE3 interactive league table.
  • Contribute to the write up of BODE3 journal articles, scholarly blogs and other publications.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and key audiences.
  • Potentially supervise postgraduate and other students.
  • Your Skills and Experience

  • An undergraduate (e.g., BSc), Masters Qualification or recent PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., most relevantly (bio) statistics, but also mathematics, computer science, epidemiology, economics, health economics, and public health qualifications considered).
  • Experience with statistical analyses and management of large data sets.

    This is a full-time, fixed term position from January / February 2019 until June 2021. Part-time options may be considered.
