About the role

Mental Health Nurses work as part of the Intervention and Support Practice Team which consists of clinical specialists whom deliver mental health services to those most vulnerable people in our care.

Working within a multi-disciplinary approach to care and well-being, your role as a Mental Health Nurse is to provide health services which enhance mental health care for tāne in our management.

Effective clinical caseload management will include triage, assessment and evidence informed treatments that are aligned to best practice mental health service provision, as well as overall promoting the delivery of holistic and recovery-oriented health services across the prison environment.

We are seeking Mental Health Nurses to join our mental health service based in Mt Eden Corrections Facility in Central Auckland.

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate strong alignment to our kaupapa and who can evidence in a written application how they meet the below essential requirements :

  • Registered Nurse who holds a current Nursing Council of NZ Annual Practicing Certificate;
  • Cultural competence - understands the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application, and has cultural knowledge and experience of working with and for Māori, whānau and iwi;
  • Demonstrable relevant experience including working with people presenting with acute and complex mental health and / or addictions issues
