About the role

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be involved in project work in both the field and office environments, and helping to developing business opportunities and Arup’s presence in New Zealand.
In this role, you will :
Communicate with the Client and the Project Engineer to understand the project requirements;
Carry out research and investigations to develop a clear understanding of ground conditions at the project site;
Plan, specify and manage site investigations and laboratory testing programmes;
Develop and implement site safety management plans covering site investigation works;
Collate and analyse field and laboratory data and carry out analyses related to the project design;
Liaise with Arup engineers, clients and Project Engineers to develop project specific solutions;
Prepare detailed geotechnical reports; and
Assist the Geotechnical leadership team in development of client relationships; training and mentoring of geotechnical team members, and fostering of strong working relationships across Arup.
A relevant tertiary qualification, a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred a significant number of years geotechnical engineering design experience, gained in an Engineering Consulting environment.
You will bring the following to Arup :
Ability to design and deliver geotechnical engineering solutions on major and / or complex projects;
Working knowledge of industry standard software for geotechnical design;
Experience of leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects;
Experience of planning, managing, supervising and interpreting geotechnical investigations;
Appreciation of contaminated land / waste issues would be an advantage
Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments;
Effective written communication and report writing skills;
Ability to maintain personal effectiveness particularly during periods of higher than normal workload;
Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines;
Desire to excel.
