Auckland City, AucklandThe New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) Surveillance Unit is looking for dynamic, confident and committed people from all walks of life to join our Surveillance Officer team.
These positions will be primarily Wellington-based roles, though a limited number of Auckland-based roles are available.
Our Surveillance Officers work closely as a team using unique operational tradecraft and technology to obtain intelligence of value to enable national security investigations.
They do this by conducting foot, static and mobile surveillance against subjects of security interest. Often this will be done in dynamic and challenging environments and no two days are ever the same.
What are we looking for?You'll need to have an appetite for new challenges, be street smart and committed to making New Zealand safe and secure.
Working well as part of a team is a must but you'll also need to be comfortable working alone. You'll need to be self-motivated and have the ability to manage long periods of inactivity whilst remaining able to respond quickly, often with unpredictable periods of intense activity.
We're looking for resilient individuals who can multi-task and adapt effectively within fast-paced and variable environments.
Being a Surveillance Officer means you need to be able to drive at speed, communicate with your team mates, assess ground conditions and maintain coverage of a subject all at the same time.
This can be both mentally and physically demanding so resilience and stress management are key.The role of a Surveillance Officer also entails working unsociable hours with potential travel at short notice.
This can be demanding on your personal life so you'll need an understanding and / or supportive home environment to make this job work.
