The Commercial Division is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade's global centre of excellence for its procurement, grant funding, private sector investment, contract management, commercialisation, and supplier management activities.
We are seeking a procurement specialist with extensive experience in construction contracting and commercial management based in Wellington.
The Commercial Specialist is a member of the Ministry's Commercial Pool. You will work with our staff globally to provide advice on structuring, procuring, sourcing and negotiating contracts and investments that successfully deliver embassies and residential property and fit-
outs for the Ministry. You will develop strategies delivered by or through external parties such as suppliers and other government or international organisations.
This may include time critical projects such as New Zealand's response to overseas disasters.
We are looking for a specialist with at least 5 years' experience in drafting, procuring, negotiating and implementing construction-
related contracts. You should hold a graduate degree in a commercial discipline or have equivalent level of experience. Studying for, or attainment of, a relevant professional qualification such as MCIPS, CEng or a legal practising certificate would also be an advantage.
The Commercial Specialist will obtain a breadth of knowledge in international construction contracting and will be mobilised in an agile and flexible manner.
Depending on the requirement, you may work on multiple projects, or may be embedded within a project team.
