Animal-assisted therapy has been shown to promote emotional wellbeing and contact with gentle animals provides comfort and helps people to be happier.

Outreach Therapy Pets is a voluntary community programme that enhances the lives of others, and we need your help!

St John has partnered with the SPCA to develop a programme to share animal companions in local rest homes and schools within the local community.

We are looking for empathetic and customer-focused individuals to become Outreach Therapy Pet volunteers in the following locations :

  • Alexandra
  • To be successful you will need a strong customer focus, good people skills and of course an excellent relationship with your furry companion, ideally with experience working with animals including handling skills.

You will support and communicate with clients of the establishment that you visit so you need to be comfortable talking and interacting with a range of people.

St John and SPCA provides animal expertise, training and ongoing support to all our volunteers and their animals.

If you think you have what it takes to become an Outreach Therapy Pet volunteer we want to hear from you.
