    The role

    We are seeking an experienced Power Technician to provide technical expertise and delivery of high voltage substation works safely, positively, effectively and efficiently.

    Candidate will join an experienced team and be required to fulfil a wide range of maintenance task within a high-voltage substation environment.

    We are motivated to fill this role promptly with the preferred candidate holding a Diploma or NZCE in Electrical Engineering.

    Successful candidate must also have at least 3 years' experience working in a high voltage substation environment. Experience with testing and commissioning of transformers, numeric protection relays, voltage regulating relays and battery chargers / battery banks will be relevant to this role.

    A National Certificate Level 5 Power Technician qualification as well as previous Vector Network experience and Omicron test equipment experience (CPC100 & CMC356) will be a huge advantage.

  • Provide technical input and scoping requirements to assist with the estimation of maintenance and capital works when requested
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of technical service in the high voltage substation environment
  • Provide technical excellence while always maintaining safety, efficiency and quality standards
  • Complete WTC competency assessments as required
  • Timely and accurate reporting of completed work
  • Adhering to best practice
  • Compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Skills and Experience

  • EWRB Electrical Registration required
  • Diploma or NZCE in Electrical Engineering required
  • 3 years of proven technical experience in a high-voltage substation environment
  • National Certificate Level 5 Power Technician qualifications, an advantage
  • Previous Vector Network experience and Omicron test equipment experience, an advantage
  • Current Work Place Competency (WTC)'s as required by the role
  • Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver's Licence
  • Transpower competencies, an advantage
