Our new TI&P organisational design will help us create collaborative teams that are multi-capable, self-managing and customer-

centric, driven by a common purpose and empowered with aligned autonomy. We're looking to create an environment where our people can grow agile mind-

set thinking and behaviours, learn and evolve and utilise their skills whilst being empowered to make decisions which will provide the best value to our customers.

Out of this transformation journey, a new set of roles have been introduced to the Technology, Innovation & Payments Division (TI&P).

As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical strategy, guidance and coaching to our team of Software Engineers. You will use your extensive technical expertise to coach the Chapter Leads who in turn coach our Engineering squads.

You will need to be an expert and leader in almost all areas of software engineering and be a passionate contributor wherever the need arises in the Engineering practice.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Observing, coaching and supporting individuals and teams to grow their engineering and architecture knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Creating the standards and guardrails for your domain to ensure Engineers have the guidance they need to build great software
  • Developing and executing plans with Chapter Leads to enable squads and teams to easily understand and apply relevant guardrails
  • Be actively involved in the open source community contributing to ASB and the industry knowledge base
  • Influencing and assisting with the creation of new designs, architectures, standards and methods for scalable distributed systems
  • Leading discussions around and help choose technologies for ASB and proactively driving the Engineering culture
  • Help influence others to ensure your passion for clean code and automated testing is embedded
  • To be successful in this role, you will need the following capabilities :

  • Have a minimum 10 years' experience (including 3+ years in an architect / lead / principal role) of hands-on development experience in Cloud / Microservices-
  • based enterprise architecture

  • Have a breadth of technical knowledge in various areas related to complex, distributed systems and platforms
  • Have demonstrated track record of solving deeply complex engineering challenges
  • Have strong system development skills and continuously be mission focused
  • Have great communication skills and be able to work fully autonomously
