Plant & Food Research conducts research that adds value to fruit, vegetable, crop and food products. Our science and associated commercialisation activities support the production of high quality produce that earns a premium in international markets, while our research into food science and the consumer drives the design and development of new and novel functional foods.

Within our Commercial group, the Plant Varieties team is accountable for maximising returns from new and existing commercial plant varieties through effective intellectual property (IP) protection and management.

Working closely with the members of the Plant Varieties (PV) team, the IP Coordinator will focus on the implementation of systems and operations underpinning the organisation's plant variety IP protection.

Your focus will be to co-ordinate and collate technical information relating to Plant Variety IP protection globally. You will maintain several databases ensuring reports and questionnaires are managed within agreed timeframes.

You will be liaising with key internal and external stakeholders to Plant and Food Research including staff in the breeding teams, Plant Variety Right Offices and patent attorneys.

Your strong attention to detail and savvy interpersonal skills will be key to your success in this role.

As a minimum you will have a degree in Plant Science, management or a commercially focused qualification with an IP angle and ideally a year's relevant experience.

Experience with legal or contract terminology and documentation will be an advantage, as will plant and horticultural knowledge.

The position may suit a Technician or Research Associate wanting a change in focus or someone in the early stages of their career.
