Auckland Convention Bureau (ACB) promotes Auckland as a premium global business events destination to contribute to Auckland's economic growth.

We are a division of ATEED (Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development) who plays a critical role in driving the Auckland region's economic wellbeing and supports and enhances the ability of the region to compete internationally.

ACB is recruiting a key role and is seeking a highly motivated Manager Business Development . In this role, you will spearhead the Business Development team to increase Auckland's market share of business events and deliver significant economic benefit for Auckland and our stakeholders.

The role

The Manager Business Development will lead a team to execute sales initiatives in New Zealand and internationally, to contribute to the delivery of the Destination AKL 2025 strategy and ATEED's aligned Business Events Plan.

As a senior manager you will set the direction and oversee all sales and business development activity and processes including large scale bids and RFPs.

This includes collaboration to develop compelling marketing strategies. Working with the Head of ACB, you will also develop strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders and clients.

About you

This is an incredible opportunity if you have the following skills and experience :

  • Extensive experience in a management role in business development / sales; including responding to RFPs and bidding
  • Experience in driving a positive team culture, leading a result orientated sales team with responsibility for staff performance and development
  • Proven strategic and innovative ability
  • Proven experience in building and managing relationships at an executive level
  • Ability to demonstrate creative flair, exceptional communication and professional presentation skills and outstanding attention to detail
  • Comprehensive project management experience
  • Destination marketing and selling experience advantageous
  • Proven experience in prioritising KPI's, meeting sales targets and managing sales pipelines
  • You have a reputation for building strong relationships and can prove how effective these and your interpersonal skills have been for you in the past
  • You will be energetic, positive, and have a passion for engaging with a motivated team to deliver results
  • You have outstanding business administration skills
