Senior Practitioner - (Alexandra)

    Using the latest strengths based practice tools and assessment frameworks; you will work hard to get quality outcomes for Tamariki and Rangatahi.

    A big part of your day will be meeting with children and young people and ensuring their voices are heard, completing assessments, creating plans, participating in family group conferences and partnering with other agencies and the community to get the best outcomes.

    Your tenacity to overcome everyday barriers and ability to drive positive outcomes will put you in good stead for this challenging yet hugely rewarding role.

    If you are a hit-the-ground running person, well versed in care and protection social work practice, technologically proficient and keen to assist your colleagues to do great work to support children and teenagers, we have an interesting position for you in stunning Central Otago.

    A key focus of your role as an experienced Social Worker will be to provide mentoring to newer and less experienced staff members within the site and supporting the development of quality practice.

    We offer :

  • To be successful in this rewarding position, you will need :

  • a Social Work Qualification that is recognised by the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) or have full SWRB registration and current APC
  • exceptional relational skills including proven ability to quickly build rapport with Tamariki and Rangatahi
  • critical thinking you know how to gather information and make good evidence based decisions
  • A high degree of both verbal and written communication skills (you will need to write court reports)
  • a commitment to bi-cultural practice and a culturally responsive approach (a good understanding of Tikanga Maori is essential)
  • resilient, motivated and caring nature with a positive can do attitude
  • flexibility to work an afterhours duty roster as required
  • full clean valid NZ driver's licence
  • New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Resident status at the time of application
