About the role

Reporting to the Regional Manager, this exciting opportunity is based at our Palmerston North Freight Forwarding branch.

As our Transport Manager you will manage the day to day processing of all inbound and outbound freight to ensure that we deliver high quality freight forwarding solutions to our customers.

This position requires someone with strong leadership skills and offers further progression and career opportunities.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Managing operational scoreboard KPI's - such as utilization, claims / damages, overlands & shortlands
  • You will manage our owner driver fleet and dispatch team to deliver effective transport solutions that exceeds our customer expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all Toll H&S policies and standards
  • Resource and asset management
  • People leadership - managing labour resources to meet volume demands
  • Client relationship management - Resolve internal & external customer issues and increase satisfaction levels
  • Performance plan development & review
  • Cost control / revenue performance
  • Manage compliance & fleet presentation requirements
  • Skills and Experience

    You will be highly experienced in both the Transport and Operations functions. Well developed communication skills ensure that you communicate effectively with team members / leaders and allow you to develop rapport and effective relationships.

    You will be self motivated with strong planning and time management skills, which give you the ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.

  • Ideally, high experience in the transport / logistics industry
  • Proven experience managing a large operations team
  • Knowledge of operational cost and resource management
  • Proven ability in leading Health and Safety
  • Well developed communication skills to allow you to develop rapport and effective relationships.
