    We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Principal Advisor to participate in a comprehensive reform of the Overseas Investment Act , which will help shape the future of New Zealand's foreign investment regime.

    This is an exciting undertaking and would suit an effective policy operator capable of providing strong intellectual leadership, strategic oversight who can effectively navigate the cross government dynamic to deliver high profile work at pace.

    This role provides an opportunity to further develop your leadership skills and our teams will appreciate your inclusive, supportive and collaborative style.

    You will have a demonstrated ability to mentor and to support others to develop their expertise. In addition, this role includes applying a wellbeing / living standards approach to the Overseas Investment Act.

    You will also likely have an opportunity to contribute to the Treasury's wider international policy function, which includes consideration of international trade issues and the international financial institutions -

    including the IMF and World Bank.

    The role will provide an opportunity to :

  • Work closely with Ministers and the Treasury's senior leaders
  • Shape the strategic approach towards the review in a supportive and collaborative environment
  • Develop and participate in stakeholder consultation
  • Once the policy is developed, take the Bill through the legislative process
  • Provide cross-agency system leadership through working closely with a number of agencies and in particular with LINZ, MBIE and MFAT
  • About You

  • Significant breadth and depth of at least 10 years' analytical experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Government processes and experience of leading and delivering high profile pieces of work
  • Well-developed written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues and concepts clearly, succinctly and with influence
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical ability
  • Previous legislative experience would be an advantage
  • Excellent relationship management skills and experience working collaboratively with others to develop agreed solutions
  • Excellent organisational skills and comfortable working at pace
  • An ability to navigate through ambiguity and to adapt to a changing environment
