    We have an exciting new opportunity for an Associate Māori Health Strategy & Improvement Officer to join the team and assist with driving strategy and improvement initiatives to support gains in Māori health status throughout the region.

    This particular role has a focus on Secondary and Tertiary care settings and will need someone who is experienced in enhancing service delivery in these areas.

    You will be responsible for :

  • Supporting the development and implementation of initiatives to enhance the health and wellbeing of Māori across the Southern Health System
  • Supporting and influencing leaders and service providers across the Southern Health System to ensure they take collective responsibility for enhancing Māori health status
  • Supporting the Iwi Governance Committee to ensure the principles of relationship agreement are honoured and that the work programme is met
  • Assisting Iwi, runaka, family / whanau in being actively engaged in health and social service planning
  • Championing change and helping to drive a new future for Māori health in our region
  • To be successful in this role you will need to have :

  • A recognised health or management Diploma or Bachelor qualification
  • Experience and knowledge of the Health and Disability sectors
  • Experience planning a wide range of Māori services, particularly in relation to secondary / tertiary care
  • Understanding of Tikanga kawa ā-iwi and Mana whenua
  • A positive approach to your work with the ability to lead, influence and take risks where appropriate
  • We’re looking for a real people-person, who will bring their strategic thinking and commitment to achieving positive Māori health outcomes to the role.

    You will have excellent communication skills and won’t be afraid to use them! There is appetite for change in the Southern region, and we want you to help shape our future.
