The Northland Transportation Alliance is an exciting initiative making traction on the roads across the region. The aim of the Alliance is to work collaboratively to meet transportation requirements throughout Northland.

It includes roading teams from the Far North District Council, Whangarei District Council, Kaipara District Council and Northland Regional Council.

These teams work closely with a team from the NZ Transport Agency who are also co-located at the Alliance site within Whangarei.

We are looking for a Project Engineer with more than two years' experience generally, and ideally with pavements - reseals, rehabilitation, managing works and contractors, bridges etc.

This is an opportunity to put into practice some of the knowledge you have picked up so far, as well as to learn and be challenged going forward.

The role entails :

  • Delivering high quality projects on time, and within budget, specifically around pavements and bridges maintenance and replacements
  • Managing contractors, works and going onsite to check that things are tracking to plan
  • Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure success
  • Health and Safety audits
  • Supporting senior staff
  • To be successful in this role you will have :

  • A sound foundation in engineering process and practice
  • Project management skills that can be used now and built on for the future
  • The ability to manage contracts, contractors and the works they are completing
  • Experience in pavements - design - review - construction
  • Experience with bridges - maintenance - renewals
  • Tertiary Engineering degree, CPEng preferred but at the minimum a Diploma
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • The ability to communicate in a clear and constructive manner
