We have a fantastic opportunity for a suitably qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist / Technician with experience in a senior role to lead our team in Phlebotomy at Middlemore Hospital, Counties Manukau as Charge of Phlebotomy.
Middlemore Hospital is a 950 bed hospital and is one of New Zealand’s busiest and diverse teaching hospitals with a large Emergency Department, Dialysis Unit, National Burns Unit, Regional Plastic Surgery, Special Care Baby Unit, ICU, Paediatrics, General Surgical, Orthopaedic and Medical wards.
The Phlebotomy Service is IANZ accredited and provides a comprehensive sample collection and cannulation service at Middlemore and sample collection at Manukau Super Clinic.
The Phlebotomy service is a division within the well-respected, progressive laboratory, and employs a team of 38 staff who are formally credentialed to collect blood.
23 of these staff are also credentialed for cannulation within the hospital. This position is full time and is the scientific / managerial lead role in the Phlebotomy service.
You will work with the Laboratory Management, Clinical Head of the Laboratory, Senior Laboratory staff and the Laboratory team in the delivery of the Phlebotomy service, plus contribute to the wider operational, financial and strategic management of the total laboratory service.
If you have qualifications and experience suitable and applicable to leading the Phlebotomy service, and have demonstrated success in a role that coordinates and or leads a group of laboratory professionals then this could be the role for you.
