TheAuckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic as it isoften known, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand.

Weserve the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in thenorthern region and four prisons.

Wedeliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, includingsecure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to communityrehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectualdisability, culture specific programmes for Maori, court liaison and prisonmental health services.

This includes a regional service to NorthlandRegion Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.

Ourinpatient services consist of seven forensic mental health inpatient units andan intellectual disability unit that assess, treat and assist in the recoveryof people with mental illness or rehabilitation for people with intellectual disability who have committed acriminal offence or are at high risk in the community.

We continue to develop the services for the future and arelooking to recruit a Registered Nurse for the Intellectual Disability OffenderLiaison Service (IDOLS) based at the Mason Clinic.

The IDOLS Team works withinthe legal framework of the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care andRehabilitation) Act 2003.

The IDOLS team provides a consult / liaison service to CMHT’s,regional intellectual disability secure accommodation services and othercommunity health providers working with persons who have an intellectualdisability.

Previous experience working with individuals who have an intellectualdisability is an advantage, although not a requirement, as well as having ahigh standard of organisation skills and the ability to work autonomouslywithin in a small team.

You will also be required to develop / facilitate individual and therapy group sessions alongside team colleagues.

In this role, you will provide nursing care of the highestquality in accordance with the Nursing Council of New Zealand scope of practice(Registered Nurse) and the WDHB Professional Development and Recognition Plan level 3, proficient registered nurse.

You will have a current APC with the scope to work in Mental Health
