About thedepartment :
TheHaematology Laboratory provides laboratory tests for the diagnosis andtreatment of blood cell and coagulation disorders.
The highly skilledscientific and technical staff work together with a team of haematologists toprovide a quality service with in depth clinical interpretation.
The Cell Markers section provide a comprehensiveflow cytometry service for malignancy diagnosis and disease monitoring for thegreater Auckland and Northland areas.
Samples processed include peripheralblood, bone marrow, CSF, FNAs, tissues and other body fluids.
The majority of our work involvesleukaemia and lymphoma diagnosis in partnership with our Haematologists andPathologists.
LabPlus is a reference laboratory, and is involvedin clinical trials.
About theposition :
The role of the Technical Specialist is to process work, providetraining and be involved with the quality management and development of the Tissueand body fluids area.
Experience with flow cytometry and Haematology isdesirable. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaborativelyin a small team are essential.
This permanentfulltime position works 40 hours per week; normal hours are Monday to Fridaybut On-call and weekend work will also be required.

Oursuccessful candidate must be registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist withthe Medical Sciences Council www.mscouncil.
org.nzwith a current annual practicing certificate. You will have relevant experienceand skills required for the role.
