Bensemann Boating is a Volvo Penta and Yamaha dealer and has been servicing and supporting all brands of outboard and inboard since the 1970’s.
It also features Everyman and Whittley boats. There is an opportunity for an experienced and qualified Marine Technician to join the team of this family-
owned business at their newest boat dealership and service centre in west Auckland.
Location : Avondale, Auckland
Position : Marine Technician
Reports to : Workshop Manager
Main duties and responsibilities include :
New and used motor installation, together with electrical systems
Routine engine servicing, maintenance and repairs on 2- and 4-stroke outboards, plus diesel and petrol inboards and sterndrive units (IPS is also supported)
Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting, utilizing computerized OEM workshop diagnostic systems
Hands-on work in the company workshops and remotely at the boat location as required
Service support is provided to commercial resort customers in the Pacific islands which creates opportunities under a revolving roster to work offshore for a few weeks each year
Liaising directly with customers
Qualifications and Experience :
Trade Qualified as Marine Technician
Experience in servicing, troubleshooting and repair, to preferably include Volvo Penta and Yamaha products
Electrical wiring, troubleshooting / repairing electrics / accessories, rigging, engine installations
Computer literate for use of company email and on-line systems
Confident with parts identification and ordering from suppliers
Boatie’ preferred with some practical boating , fishing or water sports experience
Clean and current Driver’s License; Passport
Applicants for this position should already have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa

Well presented, a clean and tidy worker who likes to keep the workshop or the customer’s boat the same way
Available to travel overseas on a planned basis
Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience
Ongoing technical training and development
Hours Mon-Fri : 07 : 30 -17 : 00 with a Saturday morning roster (08 : 00 12 : 00)
