  • We have Permanent opportunities available in both Ward 11 and the Regional Spinal Cord Impairment Unit!
  • We are looking for Registered Nurses with a passion for Orthopaedics there are few places in New Zealand that can offer you the experience of working with a nationally recognised Orthopaedic department.

    By concentrating on providing high quality treatment for patient in both, inpatient and outpatient settings, the service is able to also provide a great training ground for medical staff, thus giving the team a depth of knowledge second to none.

    Our 25 bedded general acute and elective orthopaedic ward is state of the art facilities within a great team environment.

    The orthopaedic department at Middlemore Hospital has recently become the Regional Spinal Cord Impairment Centre for the Upper North Island of New Zealand.

    In response to this, we have developed a new 4 bedded unit dedicated to acute spinal cord impairment injuries embedded within the orthopaedic ward.

    This new unit provides specialised nursing care in a high acuity setting. Catering to patients 15yrs and above, this is a challenging and exciting environment as these patients require intensive nursing, comparable with HDU patient to staff ratio at 2 : 1.

    We are looking for nurses with at least 1 year post graduate experience in any of these fields of nursing. Preferred criteria :

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with current APC
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience in Orthopaedics / Surgical
