A rare opportunity is available to work as a Senior Regional Hazards Advisor for Waikato Regional Council. Take your hazard career to the next level with this role, make a real difference to the communities we live in.

The Waikato Regional Council are strong advocates on providing information on natural hazards and climate change that enable informed communities and good decision making.

The primary focus of the role within the wider Regional Hazards team is to ensure we have resilient communities within the Waikato Region as set out in the Council's Strategic Direction.

Working with the Regional Hazards team, Waikato Group CDEM, Policy and Planning teams and our Territorial Authorities, you will lead and support :

  • development, management and integration of regional hazard information
  • investigation, management and resolution of regional hazard issues
  • provision of advice to key stakeholders on regional hazard management
  • collaborative hazard and risk management projects with key stakeholders
  • Coordinate and advocate hazard research
  • The successful applicant will be highly motivated, understand both the detail and big picture, and have the confidence to converse with a wide range of people.

    You will have a relevant tertiary qualification and be familiar with relevant legislation, statutory documents and processes.

    Relevant practical experience is essential. While a permanent role is preferred, we are open to a part time role for the right person.
