We are NZ's lead data and statistics agency - paving the way for the country's data future, and we're looking for passionate people to help us do this.

Purpose of the role

We are working to build our capability and culture of proactive and carefully managed external relationships. We're looking for a Senior Advisor to be part of a small team that is responsible for driving change within our organisation and empowering relationships within New Zealand and internationally with some of our most important customers, suppliers of data and stakeholders.

In the role you'll be :

o Building strong relationships with senior leaders and other relationship managers at Stats NZ to support external relationship building and maintenance

o Briefing Senior Managers and Executives on topical policy or data issues, and connecting across Stats NZ to identify priorities, risks and opportunities in strategic relationships

o Designing engagement strategies suitable for individuals, organisations, iwi or sectors (including international) and supporting implementation

o Supporting Stats NZ's international engagement by representing Stats NZ at strategic level discussions and providing strategic focus for international visits and activities.

o Leading the scoping and design of systems, tools and processes for managing relationships and championing their implementation across the business

o Identifying training and capability needs and facilitating solutions to these

o Communicating information about external organisations' needs and preferences widely across Stats NZ using a range of mediums to inform operational practice

Person specifications

To be successful in this role, you'll have :

excellent influencing, networking and relationship management skills

advanced written and oral communication skills

experience building and managing senior level relationships and providing advice to leaders of an organisation

a good tertiary record with relevant work experience

a proven track record of driving change within an organisation

awareness of New Zealand's strategic context, the political environment and other agencies and groups likely to impact on the data eco-system

An understanding of the role Stats NZ plays in international development would be an advantage

We're also offering a starting salary for this role of between $73-$85k depending on the skills and experience you bring to the role.
